This Baroque painting depicts the mythological scene in which Achilles, disguised as a woman, is discovered by Odysseus among the daughters of King Lycomedes. The dramatic composition features dynamic figures, rich drapery, and theatrical lighting, hallmarks of Jean Lemaire's style. The story originates from Greek mythology, where Achilles was hidden to avoid going to the Trojan War but was ultimately revealed when he showed interest in weapons instead of feminine items.

This work exemplifies Lemaire's mastery in combining narrative depth with visual grandeur. It is part of the collection at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, France
