In this painting, van Gogh depicts the flat landscape of La Crau, near Arles, under the intense summer sun. The composition features golden wheat fields being harvested, with farmers working diligently amidst haystacks, carts, and ladders. The azure blue sky contrasts vividly with the yellow and green tones of the land, capturing the atmosphere of a summer's day. Van Gogh considered this one of his most successful paintings, expressing to his brother Theo that the "canvas absolutely kills all the rest."

It is part of the collection at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam
